The porcelain articles made by the Dihl et Guehard Manufactory since the day of its foundation in 1781 were always marked by the refined taste and exquisite craftsmanship. Cupid Sharpening an Arrow from the State Hermitage collection is a rare excellent specimen of the manufactory's porcelain statuettes dating from the 1780s. In the museum exhibition of French decorative and applied arts this figurine is displayed next to the famous Sevres porcelain, to which the Dihl Manufactory was a worthy rival. Cupids, the characters popular in the previous age of King Louises, Rococo and artist Francois Boucher, have their well-deserved place in collections of aristocratic people.
