A magnificently detailed plaster adaptation from a medallion commemorating the victory of the Russian Army over Napoleon. The original (1819) was part of a series of twenty allegorical medallions created by the Russian medal-maker and sculptor Fyodor Tolstoy (1783-1873). This medallion features a Russian warrior standing over fallen enemies, symbolizing the defeat of the French Army in the Battle of Leipzig.
