You see here a charming lacquered box executed in the best art traditions of Kholui, where the icon masterpieces of yesteryear were produced. The master craftsmen of the village have closely guarded the secrets of their trade, passing them on from father to son, which is why each piece displays an extraordinary fusion of color and design. The box invites you on a little tour along the banks of the Neva River, opening up a grand vista of the Peter and Paul Fortress, the Strelka spit on Vasilievsky Island, and St Isaac’s Cathedral.
Lacquer boxes are created by hand using time-honored techniques of Russian master craftsmen. Items might slightly differ from the sample in painting details and shape.
