This is the album of the Blockade of Leningrad (St. Petersburg), of unheard-of sufferings of millions of citizens, of the most severe siege in the world's history. This is the story of the heroic city in the most horrible years of its 300 year history. The photo chronicle of the siege became possible thanks to the hard work of photographers in Leningrad during the war, including Rafail Mazalev, David Trachtenberg, Georgiy Konovalov, Leonid Korovin, Vsevolod Tarasevich, Alexander Brodsky, Vasiliy Fedoseyev and many others. All of them have contributed into compiling a photo chronicle of the Blockade. Siege diaries, photographs from public and private archives, archival documents bring us closer to understanding the tragedy experienced by millions of Leningrad inhabitants. A new edition of the album is complemented with photographs related the lifting of the blockade.
