The album is dedicated to one of the largest museum sections – Western European and Russian jewellery from the 16th to 19th centuries. It shows one hundred articles made by the best goldsmiths. They represent the beautiful and contradictory epoch when jewellery pieces served not only as decorations but also as objects of diplomatic intrigue, royal gifts and imperial regalia. In the book you will find the pictures of the world famous items along with the photographs of museum rooms where they are displayed and reproductions of the well-known brand marks. Each item is supplied with a succinct annotation. The author of these texts and coordinator of the project is Olga Kostiuk, senior academic associate at the State Hermitage, curator of the Treasure Gallery.
