Learn more about this object at the museum site.

A reproduction of the Hermitage sculpture of Aphrodite. In the middle of the 4th century BC the Greek sculptor Praxiteles first depicted a nude Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty. His Aphrodite, a personification of perfect female beauty, became a standard for artists of many generations in Greece and Rome. Our Aphrodite is based on a Roman copy of the original Greek statue of which only the torso has survived. This replica has been skillfully crafted at the Hermitage workshops. Each product has been compared to the original and approved by museum specialists.
